Upcoming interior trends for 2019

The New Year celebrations are now a distant memory and it is all hands-on-deck for preparing for the rest of 2019. This week’s ‘Friday Feature’ is from Harrogate based Interior design company, Yorkshire Design Associates, who have happily shared some top tips for 2019 to help you get ahead of some of the latest trends.

Picking from the colour chart…

A popular trend over the past 10 years has been the ‘50 shades of grey’ look which will inevitably diminish this year. What was once seen as a modern take on a minimalist & contemporary shade, trends will be shifting over to an off-white and/or warmer neutrals for base colours to both walls & ceilings.

Accent colours setting a precedent in 2019 will be corals and bronzes. Coral showcases a bold hue somewhere between pink and orange and this year, it’s even been chosen as one of the six colour options for the new iPhone XR. Aged bronze tones give character on furniture details and upholstery accents, acting as a warm and inviting metal which adds an unobtrusive sophistication to any room.

A change to your bathroom…

Bathroom trends for 2019 sees a more natural and organic look. This includes the use of materials with a wood or stone appearance or colour. Also adding plant life helps to bring the outside and nature in. Pure and authentic aged woods & stones will only get better with age and it brings an uncomplicated and no-nonsense design flare with honesty and sophistication in the pallet of materials.

The spa-inspired bathroom trend has officially returned. These days it’s all about bold, dark, sultry bathroom designs that evoke an indulgent high-end experience. There will be an emergence to reinforce social activity, uniting humanity with natural, self-well-being attributes. Spa and experience showers are becoming more of a must have for 2019 to add a sense of luxury, including waterfall shower heads, walk in showers and feature baths.
