A new development in Birstwith has been working with the local community to ensure some of the village’s key events continue to ‘flourish’ this summer.
The team at Newby’s West House Gardens development, on Clint Bank, has been working with the Birstwith in Bloom team to bring a splash of colour to the site. The developers have handed over an area of land at the front of the development to the green-fingered team, along with £300 to fill it with plants, to ensure it was looking lovely ahead of the Yorkshire in Bloom judges’ visit on 19th July. Birstwith in Bloom volunteers have planted up a dozen different types of flowering plants, shrubs and trees to bring the entrance of the development to life.
Newby also sponsored the annual Birstwith Show on 27th July. The Show is a key date in the local calendar, and includes awards, displays, stalls and entertainment, before finishing off with an aftershow party with live music and fireworks.
West House Gardens will feature 33 luxury new build homes, ranging from three to five bedrooms, in a tranquil setting overlooking the beautiful countryside of Birstwith and the Lower Nidderdale Valley – yet just seven miles from Harrogate. The show home is now open from 10am - 4pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Anthony Mackle, head of sales and marketing at Newby, said: “One of the reasons we chose this spot for West House Gardens was the amazing sense of community in Birstwith. It’s a very special location and it’s the perfect place for families – the Birstwith Show is a fantastic demonstration of that. We’d like to offer our gratitude to the wonderful team at Birstwith in Bloom for the fabulous planting they have done at the entrance to the development. It already looks great, and once it’s in full bloom it’s going to be even better! We really appreciate all they do to keep the village looking so vibrant.”
Amy Holmes at Birstwith in Bloom said: “We were delighted when Newby asked us to get involved in helping to make the land to the front of West House Gardens look more beautiful. We appreciate the funding they have provided for that and for the Birstwith Show, which is always a fantastic event and couldn’t go ahead without corporate sponsors to help fund it. Birstwith is a lovely community, and we look forward to welcoming some new members to it, once the development is complete.”
